reducing the financial barriers for teens seeking mental health treatment
Makenna James-Marie Koleno
11/20/2006 - 01/07/2021
Makenna James-Marie "Makki" Koleno, took her life on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Makki was 14 years old when she passed.
Makki was fearless. She thrived on adrenaline. At age 6 she helped lead her family spelunking through the caves of West Virginia, at 12 she was parasailing in Hawaii and in Oregon, it was soccer or any water sport she could be a part of. She loved the outdoors. Whether it was skiing and snow shoeing in Sun Valley or fishing in Lakeside, she was at home outdoors.
Lakeside, OR was her home away from home. She rode jet skis like a daredevil and drove the boat like a pro. Knee boarding, swimming, tubing and paddle boarding were just a few things that kept her busy while at the Henslee lake house.
Makki also could be a homebody. Wrapped up in her favorite blankets gray and blue, you could find her watching her favorite shows, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Friends snuggled with her pup Kalia. She enjoyed spa days and pedicures with her Maama accompanied by a nice hot cup of tea.
The girl had a smile that lit up a room. Her love for makeup and selfies had modeling companies sending her letters. She had a beautiful voice and that led to hour long concerts for her Bompa and Maama.
She had dreams of going to Alabama with her best friend Ella. After they graduated, it was a month in Hawaii.
